Today the official notice from the Board of Trustees was announced about the members of the search committee for the next chancellor of the university. I am one of the faculty members.
I am still suffering from my back pain but I am optimistic because many people have had this problem and have been able to overcome it. I need to be able to keep working on it and perhaps lighten up my exercise routine.
Today, I feel like I am living alone
In the news the most important even is the debate over gun control that ensue after the Conneticut crisis and the new US budget celing that the republicas don't want ot approve while also trying to keep spending down and not wanting to release help to victims of huracaine Sandy.... what a mess..
January 20th
This last week was interesting for several reasons. First, Lance Amstrong finally confessed that he was using banned performance-enhancing drugs during his career as a cyclist. This led to a conversation of what people do such terrible mistakes and denied for such a long time. Sadly it was also the week that Cindy Bretschneider died. There is an interesting connection between these two events. It is at moments of dead that would realize how insignificant we are, how spendable. It is therefore not surprising that somebody like Lance Amstrong will want to keep his fame for as long as possible. It is to a certain extent a way of preserving ourmeaning in the world.
this week I also went to give a salsa class to my colleague Carsten and his wife Nedine. I also the chance to paint her kitchen cabinets.
